Linda Low grew up in Chattanooga, Tennessee. After graduating from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville with a degree in history, Linda moved to Europe, where she taught with the Department of Defense schools in Germany, France, and the Netherlands for four years. While there, she met Rob Low.
Rob was born in Richmond, Virginia. The Army took him to Europe, where he served as an officer. He was stationed in Germany when he met Linda. They were married in Switzerland before retuning together to the United States.
Within a year of their return from Europe, they moved to the Mount Pleasant neighborhood in Washington, DC, where they've lived ever since. Linda began teaching history while Rob started his own CPA firm in DC. In between work and raising two children, they both became active in community affairs. After teaching at Bethesda Chevy Chase High School for ten years, Linda was elected to the Mount Pleasant Advisory Neighborhood Commission and served as Chairman of the Commission for two terms in the early 1980s. Linda’s lifelong interests in history, architecture, and interior design soon led her to help found Historic Mount Pleasant, Inc, and to work with the DC Preservation League to attain federal historic district status for the Mount Pleasant, Cleveland Park, and Kalorama Triangle neighborhoods. Rob went on to later serve on the board of Historic Mount Pleasant and the L’Enfant Trust.
Linda made a career change in the early 1980s to work as a consultant in historic preservation, where she assisted developers with design and regulatory compliance in the restoration and conversion of historic buildings in most of Washington's historic neighborhoods. In 1985, her love of people and interest in architecture, restoration, and renovation led her to real estate. She immediately fell in love with the profession and soon became one of the area's top residential agents.
Rob joined the team full-time in 2004 after selling his CPA firm and retiring from finance. His experience with historic preservation, renovations, home improvements, and finance has assisted our clients time and time again. Now with Long & Foster Real Estate, Inc., Linda and Rob head one of the area’s top teams in residential real estate, servicing Washington DC, Maryland and northern Virginia.
